We are already in the fifth week of the year! Let’s continue to do the things we love, and work on using our voices through our writing, speaking, art, and how we show up in this world.
As promised, here are your weekly journaling prompts. When I do the prompts myself before sharing them with you, I set a timer for 15 minutes and see what comes out in my journal. There are no rules around how you use them, but this is a good way to begin if you are new to using prompts.
I enjoy reading what comes up for you as you respond to them, so feel free to tag me on social or backlink here on the blog if you write or record a response. I’ve also enjoyed seeing the responses those of you who journal them in handwriting have sent to me via email. It’s exciting for me to see that these little ideas in my brain are fun and helpful for you as well. I may not always get to them in the same week I write them, as I have a few projects right now keeping me busy, BUT I will get to them and respond when I read them / watch them / see them.
Let’s jump in!
Under each of the graphics, you will find the prompts in typed out so you can see them clearly if the font is too small in the picture or if you want to copy and paste them for your response. I hope this helps make the prompts accessible to as many of you as possible.
Share your favorite memory with your favorite pet. What emotions does it bring up? How do you feel about them?
What is one hobby that if you would be unable to give up for a year? Why? How would giving it up affect your life?
This couple is having a conversation that is going to change their lives forever. Write the conversation.
This woman hears a song in her head. Write some of the lyrics to song and share how it makes her feel.
For this prompt, look at the picture and write a short story, poem, or whatever else comes to mind.

Follow me on Instagram for additional posts with writing and poetry, events (as the Northeast begins to open more), and photography from around my city. I don’t post often and I won’t be offering coaching services this year to any new clients, as my current clients are keeping me busy as we dive into deeper aspects of their businesses and writing. As such, you will see it continue to morph to become more about writing, poetry, photography, and creativity more than coaching on various topics. It will be me showing up as I do in life versus doing business on Instagram. I’m looking forward to the freedom that comes with that change!
If you read this far, be sure to drop your blog link in the comments below. While I can see all of you who are on WordPress who I’ve subscribed to, there is no way to see everyone who has stopped by or subscribed to me in a way that I can click on their links and visit their pages as well. I have to go post by post. Help me honor my time by dropping your blog link in the comments – or drop a link to your favorite post from it – and I will stop by during the month to read a post or two.
Let’s truly engage this year as we grow together in our writing!

Hello, Shell. I just discovered your site today, and I’m so very glad to see it. So many people need the encouraging push that you are focusing on — especially after going through the trauma of the past two years. Keep up the great work. And, even though I’m an English teacher, I don’t mind ending a sentence with a preposition either — and I definitely favor the Oxford comma! 🙂

Great to meet you Sandra! Thank you for stopping by. The last two years have been rough and I’m happy to give folks a nice place to come so they can dream, think, read, and be encouraged.
