This month, I am sharing summaries of some of the chapters within The Purpose In My Pain: A 28 Day Devotional Written by Women of Purpose. Today’s highlight is the Introduction and opening chapter by Dr. Tamika Hall.
In the Introduction, Dr. Tamika Hall shares with us a glimpse of her history. As you read her words, she draws you into a state of empathy where you’re encouraged that someone who has endured so much is still standing and thriving.
After she shares her history and the purpose in her pain, she kicks us off with a play on words many of us have heard but not in relation to God.
God is just that into you.
Drew Barrymore, Jennifer Aniston, Ginnifer Goodwin, Jennifer Connoly, Ben Affleck, Bradley Cooper, Justin Long, and Scarlett Johansson fans have definitely heard the expression “He’s just not that into you” and may giggle remembering the 2009 hit movie. You may have to reread the title of Dr. Hall’s chapter because you know what it is supposed to say but doesn’t.
Take a moment to read it slowly, and really feel it.
God
is
just
that
into
you.
He really is!
Dr. Hall ensures in her very succinct opening chapter that you understand how much the King of Kings loves you and is into you. In only two pages, she reminds you using four verses from Isaiah that you were chosen by God before anyone ever knew your name.
Read the chapter. Then, challenge yourself to repeat the affirmations she provides in both her introduction and chapter daily throughout the month as you read the devotions.
If you enjoy watching fireside chats or talk shows, you will love this high-energy, engaging conversation between Dr. Hall and I on February 4, 2022. We talk about her life, her current projects, how she became who she is today, and more! I wrote a blog reflecting on what we talked about in this chat. You can read it at TheEssentialCreative.com on Saturday, March 12, 2022, and watch the chat here now.
